Currency
A multi-currency scheme is in operation with the US Dollar and the South African Rand being the most common and preferred. Major foreign currencies and travelers cheques can be exchanged at bureau de change, banks and hotels. The use of credit cards is not recommended.
The Zimbabwean Dollar was abandoned in early 2009, however many vendors sell the notes as souvenirs.
Climate
Zimbabwe offers a very pleasant year-round climate, but the best time to visit depends on which activities you wish to pursue and which regions you want to visit.

Entry Formalities
A valid passport is needed to enter Zimbabwe and visas are required for most visitors however they can be obtained on arrival at the port of entry. It is advisable to check with your local consulate or embassy before traveling.
Health and Hygiene
Malaria exists in Zimbabwe, therefore we recommend anti-malarial medication.
We suggest you check with your GP or local Travel Clinic for any required immunizations before traveling. Only drink bottled water. As the African sun is very harsh, a high factor sunscreen is advisable to avoid sunburn.
Accommodation
Zimbabwe is a destination still untouched by mass tourism. This means that much of the accommodation is more basic than other countries in Southern Africa such as South Africa or Botswana. Luxury accommodation is available in the more traveled areas such as Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park and Lake Kariba. Please be prepared for these circumstances, and consider this as part of the rustic charm of Zimbabwe.
How to Get to and around Zimbabwe
From South Africa: flights from Johannesburg to Harare, Victoria Falls to Bulawayo, Johannesburg to Bulawayo and Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.
Airlines: South African Airways, British Airways, Air Zimbabwe, Airlink and Fast Jet, Kenyan Airways, Namibian Airways.
For International guests: various airlines operate flights to Johannesburg from Europe, USA, Canada, South America and Australasia. From here you can catch a connecting flight to Zimbabwe.
Domestic scheduled flights operate between Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park, Kariba, Bulawayo and Harare.
Airlines: Air Zimbabwe, Solenta Aviation
Charter flights are available with Solenta Aviation and HAC to all airports/airstrips within Zimbabwe.
Road transfers are available to most parts of the country.
Self-drive options are also available and the main road networks are tarred and in a reasonably good condition. Certain remote destinations have difficult terrain and road conditions, and would require the use of a 4x4.
